whatcha doin’ tomorrow?
i’ll be at the riverside marriott from 9:30 to 3:00, selling my goodies, as will a host of other wonderful crafters. look for your favorites as well as some newbies!
{p.s., tomorrow’s a big day downtown: there’s the farmer’s market as well as two awesome activities at noon: the easter egg-stravaganza and the peep show, involving real live peeps. wish i could be there for that one! so come and stay a while. breakfast at simple simon’s too?}
sew funky: recap
i think my feet have finally stopped hurting, my back is getting less achy, and i caught up on some sleep this weekend. but boy, was the sew funky market fun! it was hard to set up a booth all by my lonesome {with the hubby out of town, i had to haul everything in–and out–myself} but i had a great time anyway.
the place was packed with vendors and crammed with shoppers, but everyone handled the crowd well. there was so much good stuff, like this adorable owl pillow from meagan of fairly fabulous; clutches and bags by paper from heaven; and the sweet embroider hoops above by lauren of lauren elise handcrafted. {lauren’s booth was like a breath of fresh air and i wanted everything in it! don’t you just love her displays?}
i enjoyed hanging out with my neighbor vendors darlene of etheloos and shannon of lee.f. {you may remember we picked up a mustache pillow from lee.f last time; this time i came home with a wooden kid’s toy for those kids i don’t yet have.}
last minute news
i’m counting down the hours until the sew funky marketplace this weekend. despite taking on additional responsibilities this week, i think i’ll actually be ready, which means i won’t be pulling an all-nighter to prepare like i did for the last sew funky. it helps that i have most of my booth already finished from previous shows, as well as having everything tagged and carded. still, i wanted to add some new goodness to my set-up.
i finally got around to adding the doilies to my tablecloth. they’re currently glued on. maybe by the next show i’ll actually have them sewn on. we’ll see. time always seems to get away from me…
i’m happy to be bringing the first of the jewelry display boards to this show, too. took me long enough, right? {oh the trials and tribulations of the perfectionist.}
lastly, i’m halfway through whipping up a batch of paper fortune cookies to offer as little giveaways.
if you’re in southern california and can make it to the show, please stop by and say hello! it’ll be twice as big as last time, but still located in the riverside marriott ballroom, from 9:30-3 on saturday the 8th. hope to see you there!
gearing up!
i’m gearing up for sew funky marketplace! this time it’s twice as big, so they’ll be lots of goodies to check out. and there’s that big holiday coming up…
come join me october 8th at the riverside marriott from 9:30 to 3. all the new additions to the booth will be waiting for you to see.
sew funky marketplace {redux}
i’m going to sew funky marketplace again! it’ll be october 8th from 9am to 3pm at the riverside marriott. help support the growing arts & crafts community in the inland empire by attending and checking out all the cool goodies. it’ll be a great time to shop for handmade holiday gifts, too.
last time, i didn’t sleep at all the night before because i was up tagging all my pieces // this time i’m going to be more prepared and less sleep-deprived. last time, my backdrop was a little wonky because i made it out of the small pvc // this time it’ll stand upright because i know better now. last time, the hubby and i went home with this adorable mustache pillow from the leef // who knows what we’ll find this time!!
it’s going to be twice as big, with twice as many vendors! to learn more, visit the sew funky marketplace blog.
getting excited!
it’s a little too late to worry, as tomorrow is the sew funky marketplace! not that lack of time ever stopped me. do i have too much stuff? have i made enough? will my display get put up in time? will anyone buy anything? what if i don’t have enough bags? what if, what if, what if?!
i wanted to share with you some of my personal faves of people coming to the market. i can’t wait to get my hands on these goodies! there are so many cool vendors coming. if you’re in the area, i hope you’ll stop by! as far as i know, this is the first crafts market of its kind here in riverside, and i’m super excited to be participating in the very first one. i hope there will be many, many more! i love meeting other crafters and seeing their beautiful creations.
just click on the link to get more info on these cuties. better yet, stop by the market and pick on up! we’ll be there from 9:30 am to 3 pm at the Riverside Marriott!
four more days to go!
what’s funnier than watching basset hounds run? mmm…nothing, really. thanks to the hubby for sharing this hysterical round up. in the mix i found the above picture, which reminds me a bit of how i feel right now. super excited, somewhat insane, and all over the place. only four more days to prepare for my very first craft show ever {the sew funky marketplace at the riverside marriot this saturday, july 9 from 9:30 to 3}. if you’re local, i hope to see you there!
i promise to look more put together once everything’s all set up.
sneak peeks!
i want to share with you some of the new goodies that i’m debuting at the sew funky marketplace. for those of you who can’t make it {july 9th, 9:30 am to 3 pm at the riverside marriott}, these lovelies will show up in the shop soon. i’m especially excited about the addition of sunshine cloths, my go-to polishing cloth!
busy bee
howdy stranger! apologies for being awol, blogwise. i’ve been keeping busy, busy, busy: mostly getting ready for the Sew Funky Marketplace and sometimes painting the garage.
i’ve been crazy busy setting up my display for my booth, and this past week i focused a lot on branding and packaging. after much hemming and hawing, i have decided to use birds as part of my image. {does it count that this decision stems from the business cards i got way before portlandia came about? did you know that my only tattoo is a birdie? and she’s two years old! so i’ve been putting a bird on it for a while now. what i’m trying to say is that i’m not jumping on the bandwagon, baby, i’ve been on the bandwagon. and we’re still accepting new members.}
so this week i printed out labels and stuck them onto my bags…{looking for good, cheap, round labels? check out world label}…
…and i made the sign for my booth using freezer paper to screen print onto fabric {the birds i free-handed}…
…and i made more trays for displaying little objects…
…and i cut up lots of fluff {thick batting} for my handmade boxes…
…and i got my printer tray ready to display earrings.
there’s been lots more, but i thought that instead of overwhelm you all at once, i’d drag it out a few days. tomorrow i’ll show you some of the new goodies that i’m excited to bring the shop. then i’ll show you what we’ve been up to with the garage. {hint: it looks so good i do a little happy dance every time i see it!}.
keepin’ busy
here are a few updates from the world of getting ready for the sew funky marketplace. i finally found another folding table {a 6 footer that also folds in half, meaning it fits in our car}. i ordered 600 big round labels {to go with the 250 kraft shopping bags i’ve ordered!}. i ordered some divine twine {yay!} from whisker graphics. i’ve been dyeing the $3 a yard fabric so that it will be a nice grey for the backdrop of my booth. i’m working on constructing that backdrop out of pvc pipe. and i finally did a mock up of my booth, sans backdrop.
what did i learn? an 8 foot by 4 foot booth is a lot smaller in reality than it is in my head. viola may not be able to come, because i have a really cool wooden crate that looks good and holds product. sorry vi. but it was good to see it all laid out and in place. i was worried i had too many trays, but it looks like i’ll have just the right amount, once i put them together.
i like how my little paper birdies turned out! i got the idea from charcoal & crayons, where there is a nice tutorial on how to put them together. i’ll scatter them throughout the display, to tie in with the birdies on my business cards. when i get my stickers printed up, they’ll have little birdies on them, too!
i like how the doilies look on top of the grey velvet. it remains to be seen whether there will be enough time {and energy!} to make the full table runner as planned.
look at all those boxes! i’ll make tons more in time for the fair. i’ll have my tags, too.
phew! i’m exhausted. but happy.
