how many trees had to die so i can have four phone books that i will never, ever use?!

that’s 4 and 1/4 inches of phone books, people. and they arrived within days of each other.  could the person who delivered the second set not see that we already had some?  i know, i know, that person was just doing their job, but i can be mad at verizon and at&t.  grrr.if anyone knows of any ways to re-use or re-purpose these lovely gems, i would welcome the ideas.  i found some here on craft stew.  and here at planet green.  it looks like i could tear out the pages and use it for packing material, to clean up messes, and even to make stuff with.  maybe a desk for the office like the one here?  or maybe this cool coffee table?

I’m not saying that you have to go all out, but perhaps this will give you some inspiration on what to do with that pile of phone books.
