foolish fruit

the haul from the farmer's market

ever do anything foolish? like get so excited about summer fruit that you load up on organic grapes, gorgeous red bing cherries, and luscious organic strawberries? totally forgetting that the hubby’s going to be out of town for 10 days?! to top it off, i went to the farmer’s market this morning and brought home even more fruit. i couldn’t help myself. everything looked so delicious: bright red strawberries, already ripe {!} apricots, and a few veggies for good measure. i’ll grate the beets into salads and eat the carrots straight up. the strawberries and apricots will disappear fast {as have almost half the cherries i brought home wednesday}. i think this fits in perfectly with the new food plate. {have you seen it yet? it’s kinda genius and it makes sooooo much more sense than past attempts. i’d like to kiss whoever came up with the visualization, given that i’ve never found pyramids all that appetizing.}

i tend to forget this part of summer as i dread the impending over 100 degree days ahead of me, so i’m trying to really savor these moments. what’s your favorite part of summer?
